When is the rainy season in Bali and how does it affect family plans?

Bali’s rainy season runs roughly from November to March, with short, heavy afternoon downpours rather than all-day rain. It rarely derails family life — you just plan mornings for outdoor time and keep a few indoor options ready.

The wet season is broadly November through March, and the drier season April through October. Even in the wet months, rain often comes as intense bursts in the afternoon or overnight, with plenty of sunshine around them — so full washouts are the exception, not the rule.

For families, the practical effects are more mosquitoes (keep up repellent and drain standing water), occasional flooded roads, and stickier humidity. It’s a good time to know your nearby indoor playgrounds, soft-play cafés and museums for the odd rained-off afternoon.

The wet season is also quieter and greener, with fewer crowds — many families like it. Check current conditions and indoor-day ideas with the Knowmads guide.
