Kerobokan
Kerobokan is the working residential belt between Seminyak and Canggu — where much of the area's practical infrastructure sits, and where a lot of long-staying families actually live.
It is not a place people visit, which is the point. The larger supermarkets, hardware shops, clinics, vets and repair places that a household actually needs are concentrated here, and being ten minutes from all of them changes the texture of a long stay far more than being ten minutes from a beach club does.
Housing runs the full range, from compact townhouses on quiet gangs to large family villas, generally at better value than the coastal strips. Streets vary a lot within a short distance — some are genuinely quiet, others are busy connector roads — so it is worth visiting a specific address at school-run time rather than judging the area as a whole.
There is no beach and limited walkability in the tourist sense; this is an area you drive or ride short distances within. Families who choose it usually do so in their second year, after deciding that proximity to the things they use weekly matters more than proximity to the things they photographed in their first month.
