Thousands of expat and nomad families raise young children in Bali. It is generally warm, friendly and very family-oriented, with a large community, good private clinics and plenty of kid-focused activities.
The main things to plan for are practical, not dramatic: traffic and scooter safety (use car seats and proper helmets), mosquito-borne illness such as dengue (repellent, screens, drain standing water), strong sun (shade, hats, reef-safe sunscreen), and water hygiene (drink filtered water). Keep a small first-aid kit and know where your nearest reputable clinic is.
